“Letters for the Future” at the Brooklyn Public Library

On view November 3, 2025-January 25, 2026, “Letters for the Future” at the Brooklyn Public Library celebrates the library as one of the last civic commons freely open to all. Curated by Department of Transformation (DOT) in collaboration with BPL Presents, the exhibition brings together artists, designers, educators, and activists to explore new formats for reading, writing, and thinking together. Professor Sharmistha Ray will exhibit a work on paper, while Hilma’s Ghost will present their Apothecary Box, originally commissioned by the Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum in 2023. As part of the exhibition’s open-source approach, the Apothecary Box will be available for BPL cardholders to borrow — a radical invitation to live with and learn from contemporary art in everyday life.

Tyler School of Art

On November 6, Hilma’s Ghost will visit Temple University’s Tyler School of Art and Architecture in Philadelphia for a public talk exploring the intersections of magic, community, and resistance. Following the talk, participants are invited to join a hands-on workshop, “Magic, Community, and Resistance” in the Fibers and Material Studies department.
