Photos: Pre-College Art Students Showcase Puppet Animation, Wearable Sculpture, and More

See some of the most memorable moments from this summer’s first student showcase, where Session One Pre-College Art students presented work from their Drawing, Sculpture, Animation, and Concept Studio classes.

Each summer over three- and six-week sessions, the Carnegie Mellon University School of Art Pre-College Art program invites high school juniors and seniors to experience what it’s like to study at a top-ranked art school. Modeled after our undergraduate curriculum, Session One students take Drawing, Sculpture, Animation, and Concept Studio — a specialized course that focuses less on technique and more on the creative process itself and what artmaking can convey to others. At the end of each session, we celebrate their hard work by staging an exhibition for the students’ peers, faculty, and family.
