Nick Crockett
Adjunct Professor of Art
Nick Crockett is an artist, game designer, and educator focused on interactive storytelling and worldbuilding. His work has evolved from whimsical interfaces and satirical games toward speculative worldbuilding around the relationships between people, land, and labor. Recent projects include Fire Underground (2019), a generative fantasy animation about Appalachian coal history, and Cinder Ridge (ongoing), a computer game about rewilding and fire ecology in a near-future California.
He received an MFA from Carnegie Mellon School of Art in 2019 and has exhibited games and animation internationally, including at VIDEO GAMES: Design/Play/Disrupt, Victoria and Albert Museum, London; Milan Machinima Festival, Milan, Italy; Personal Structures, Venice Biennale Satellite Exhibition, Venice, Italy; Northern Spark Festival, Minneapolis, MN; UCLA Game Art Festival, Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, CA; and Power Without Extraction, Film Screening at Carnegie Museum of Art.
He has taught courses on topics around game design, 3D art, and animation at Carnegie Mellon School of Art, UCLA Design Media Arts, and USC Games, among other places.
