The two recent shows, both organized by Plataforma ArtBase, showcased Professor Ray’s work for international collectors at Art Toronto and Gallery Weekend Montreal.

Art Toronto

Estella Loomis McCandless Assistant Professor of Art Sharmistha Ray recently exhibited works on paper at Art Toronto, Canada’s premier art fair, held from October 24-27. Ray’s work was showcased alongside exhibitions curated by Rhéanne Chartrand and Mia Nielsen, inspired by the fair’s 25th anniversary, and installations from Kim Adams, Sami Tsang, Nicholas Crombach, and Zoe Ann Cardinal Cire, among many others.

Abstract Geometry and Gender

In Montreal, Ray participated in “Abstract Geometry and Gender,” a group exhibition at Produit Rien Gallery as part of Gallery Weekend Montreal in late September. Curated by Emireth Herrera Valdes and Dulce Pinzón, the show brought together artists who navigate abstraction as a space for exploring gender, identity, and self.
