Professor Emeritus James Duesing Wins Animation Award and Joins Streaming Platform Eternal Family

Duesing’s latest animation “Adulting” has received Best Experimental Short at Reeling 2024 and has been selected for screenings across the U.S. and Australia. His early works are also now available on the curated streaming service Eternal Family.


Adulting

Professor Emeritus James Duesing‘s animated short Adulting, which explores collective LGBTQIA+ experiences, was recently awarded Best Experimental or Animated Short at the Reeling 2024 Film Festival in Chicago. The short is now part of the Eyeworks tour, with screenings scheduled at the Block Museum in Chicago (November 16), 2220 Arts in Los Angeles (November 23), and the Museum of the Moving Image in New York (December 7). The animation has also been named a finalist in the Canberra Short Film Festival, set to screen as part of the Politics of Gender and Sexuality program on November 14.

Eternal Family

Duesing’s early animations, spanning from 1983 to 2009, have been licensed by the independent streaming service Eternal Family.
