As part of Marx@200, Professor Susanne Slavick and co-curator Professor Kathy M. Newman organized an exhibition nine works by Professor Imin Yeh, Mel Chin, Kathryn Clark, Rayna Fahey, Ottmar Hörl, Alfredo Jaar, Slinko, Jina Valentine, and Kirsty Whitlock. The works will be on view at Verso Books in Brooklyn on September 15.
The exhibition is presented in conjunction with a short book talk by Peter Frase on “The Four Futures.” The evening will also include the opening of Alfredo Jaar’s work “September 15.” Created on the anniversary of the collapse of Lehman Brothers, Alfredo Jaar’s work consists of a photograph of Karl Marx’s grave at Highgate Cemetery tucked in a plain office envelope with instructions that the owner of the image may only look at it once a year on September 15th.
