Luke Doyle
Operations Manager of Doherty Hall
Luke serves as the Doherty Hall Facilities Operations Manager.
● Acts as the primary liaison between the School of Art and both the Environmental Health
& Safety (EHS) and Facilities Management Services (FMS) offices.
● Assists with and manages the onboarding and training of new staff technicians, student
monitors, and student summer crew workers.
● Monitors Doherty Hall Arts area budgets and ordering categories.
● Develops and implements safety and training procedures throughout the School of Art
facilities in Doherty Hall.
● supervises large-scale projects and equipment.
Luke is a ceramic artist born in Pittsburgh, PA. He received his MFA with a concentration in ceramics from West Virginia University and his BFA from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania (now PennWest University). He has taught and exhibited his work both nationally and internationally, including at the Chautauqua Visual Arts Center in New York and The Pottery Workshop in Jingdezhen, China. He has also instructed foundations at West Virginia University. Since completing his graduate studies in 2019, Luke has spent time on industrial custom ceramic tile, building communities to support ceramic art in Pittsburgh, and continuing to create his work in his home studio. Luke specializes in creating plaster molds for ceramic production, ceramic glaze calculation/formulation, and various atmospheric kiln firing methods.
