Ray will next join curator Stamatina Gregory for a public conversation about “Emergent Realities” at Wood Street Galleries on January 30.
Emergent Realities
Following its December 12 opening at Wood Street Galleries, Professor Sharmistha Ray’s Emergent Realities has garnered national attention, including coverage from Hyperallergic and Artnet, as well as Ray’s recent spotlight in Cultured. Curated by Anastasia James for the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, the exhibition will be on view through July 5.
As part of the exhibition’s public programming, Ray will appear in conversation with curator and art historian Stamatina Gregory on Friday, January 30 at 7pm at Wood Street Galleries. The free event will explore themes of queer temporalities, cosmologies, and ecological consciousness that shaped the conceptual and visual framework of Emergent Realities. The exhibition will be open on the third floor throughout the evening, with the talk taking place on the second floor.
The Circle That Unites Us: How One Becomes Many
Ray’s work is also included in a newly opened group exhibition at the Frederick Layton Gallery in Milwaukee, on view January 12–March 6. Curated by Nina Ghanbarzadeh, “The Circle That Unites Us: How One Becomes Many” brings together artists whose practices engage with geometry as a shared visual language, drawing connections between natural patterns, mathematical systems, and spiritual reflection.
