
DeYoung’s editing and sound design work is set to premiere at the Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin festival on November 24–30, 2025, in the new short film “Wirtshaus zur Pfaueninsel.”
Professor Johannes DeYoung collaborated with Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Milo Addica (Monster’s Ball, The King, Birth) on Wirtshaus zur Pfaueninsel, a short psychological drama following a young boy who ventures through a forest outside Berlin in search of a rare bird, only to make a stark encounter that offers a harsh dose of life. The short is will make its international debut this month at the Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin festival.
Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin is a major European platform for contemporary cinema and moving-image art, gathering international artists, filmmakers, and audiences to explore new forms and critical approaches in film and art, including documentary, experimental fiction, and hybrid and multimedia forms.
