As part of the IndieCade Festival, taking place at Santa Monica College Center for Media and Design October 12-13, Professor Angela Washko will speak about her project “The Game: The Game.”
After recently completing this long-term video game project, Washko will discuss the multi-year research process behind the pick-up artist dating simulator. She will screen excerpts from her interview with a seduction coach who has been dubbed “The Web’s Most Infamous Misogynist” and highlight instructional DVDs, books, and hidden-camera videos created by a community of pick-up artists to teach men how to interact with and seduce women. The talk will close with a discussion and a participatory play-through of “The Game: The Game” facilitated by the artist.
The IndieCade Festival is a leading international event dedicated to celebrating independent games from around the globe. Now in its second decade, IndieCade is held each October in the Los Angeles area.
