“Contemporaneous,” on view September 27 – October 21, features 10 Associated Artists of Pittsburgh members showcasing large, and distinctly contemporary, sculptural works. Located in a Pittsburgh neighborhood undergoing momentous change, Alphabet City Development, a slightly raw space, serves as a contrast to the impressive contemporary pieces—each with slight nuances in materials, shapes, and colors that often mirror the same complexity and tensions felt by those affected by the changes being made in East Liberty. Many of the works are fun and whimsical, while others are more labored and complex, allowing for anyone who views them to develop their own meaning and intentions.
