Khushi Nandgaonkar
Briefly describe your artistic practice.
My art takes on the form of stories that focus on the frustrations and experiences of everyday life, like being afraid of the dark, losing something important, or forgetting someone’s birthday. These domestic tensions are backdropped by the “big-picture” of life: the passage of time and the fear of death. However, as grim as that sounds, I try to do it in a way that frees people from their daily burdens, using a lot of humor and color.
What are you currently working on?
I am working on a film that is combining various techniques and possibilities. I have a hand constructed paper miniature set and animated characters that live inside.
How has your artistic practice changed since you came to CMU?
I came here with the single idea of wanting to be a painter. I am leaving here confused and excited, with a head full of ideas, because there is so much that I got to learn and try in the past four years, and so much more that I want to!
