Feminist artist collective Hilma’s Ghost is featured in “Holding a Bright Untroubled Sky: Visioning a Better World Through Magic,” a new group exhibition at University of North Carolina at Charlotte’s Rowe Galleries.

Curated by writer and folklorist Dr. Amy Hale, the exhibition gathers 14 international artists and collectives to explore imagination, joy, and collective visioning. Designed to ignite the senses, the show features game play, interactive digital stations, performance, immersive installations, and works on paper. Hilma’s Ghost is exhibiting its Automatic Theorem Paintings, a 2022 series that explores the creative, spiritual, and narrative potential of tarot, mediumship, and automatism in artmaking

The exhibition opened on August 10, followed by a performative ritual activation and collective automatic drawing workshop led by Hilma’s Ghost on August 27. “Holding a Bright Untroubled Sky” will be on view through September 18, 2026.
