Concept Gallery Presents “Kim Beck: ROCK,” a Solo Show on Landscape and Infrastructure

Posted on April 28, 2025

Through weaving, sculpture, print, and photography, Professor Kim Beck explores surfaces that both conceal and reveal.

“Kim Beck: ROCK,” a new solo exhibition by Professor Kim Beck, opened April 24, 2025, at Concept Gallery in Pittsburgh and is on view through May 31. Blurring the line between surface and structure, Beck’s pieces examine how environments are marked, layered, and transformed, asking how surfaces tell stories and how residue reveals hidden histories. Patterns hold together, fray, and fall apart — offering a mixture persistence and collapse.

Beck’s work in the show spans weaving, sculpture, printmaking, painting, and photography, including asphalt rubbings, spray paint silhouettes, handmade wallpaper, and camouflaged faux rocks. Concept Gallery will host an artist talk with Beck on Saturday, May 31, at 11am.
