Enjoy a look at some of the most memorable moments from this year’s Open Studios — dubbed “3024” by the senior class as it hosted an art-centric take on the end of the world, 1,000 years into the future.
Apocalyptic anthems like I Will Survive and Toxic echoed from karaoke in the elevator. The aroma of Indian cuisine and hand-spun cotton candy tinged the air. For one Friday night, Open Studios transformed the School of Art into “3024” as this year’s edition of the annual end-of-year event again proved the power of community and creativity. Guests from across Pittsburgh explored student studios and browsed an art sale featuring everything from ceramics and paintings to stickers and prints.
Senior Bayu Adji kept the energy high with a live DJ set, accompanying installations, exhibitions, and screenings across the third floor of the College of Fine Arts building — while next door in the Hall of the Arts, MFA candidates welcomed visitors into their individual studios and tempted them with homemade soup and baked goods. Below, our photos capture just a snapshot of this unforgettable night.
