On March 24 in Seattle, Professor Golan Levin will present a critical assessment of STEM-to-STEAM education in a plenary keynote address at the annual convention of the National Arts Educators Association (NAEA). In keeping with the theme of this year’s national convention (“STEM + Arts = STEAM”), Levin will speak to more than 4000 elementary, middle, and high-school arts educators about the rhetoric, fallacies, and common pitfalls of STEAM education—but also, a review of emergent best practices, notable successes, and a survey of some bright opportunities ahead in interdisciplinary arts-and-technology education.
