Briefly describe your artistic practice.
I love HipHop to the absolute death and as it has tightened its hold around me, I’ve had to find ways to make its worth known in the academic art space. There is so much that goes into putting together an authentic piece of HipHop music; from the knowledge of cadence, delivery, rhyme technique and storytelling, to the self-awareness and honesty it takes to make something that truly resonates with yourself and your audience.
What are you currently working on?
My most recent work has been pulling out, decrypting, and expanding upon everything that I apply when I write a verse or a song. I’ve color coded my coded language syllable by syllable and have begun building a world using illustrations inspired by the visual references in my writing.
What’s your best piece of advice for art students?
My best piece of advice for an art student, and also any person aspiring to go into a creative field, is to be yourself. There is no one in the world who can be you better than you. So, if you continue to better yourself and speak from your heart, you become a one stop shop where the only place someone can go to get some of you, is you. If you hold the supply and know the demand, then you can set the price.
