Nykyta Kuzmicz

Nykyta Alexander Kuzmicz is an artist from Edmonton, Alberta, currently based in Toronto, Canada where he has lived most of his life.  He earned his BFA from OCAD University in 2015, with a year of study in Florence, Italy.  Over the last decade he has worked as an art installer. His art practice encompasses drawing, lithography, photography, video, and sound, exploring themes of childhood, dysfunction, transformation, appropriation, memory, and hope.  At these intersections, he pieces together fragments of his own story, reclaiming the generational narrative of masculinity in his lineage.  Lasting effects of death, addiction, and gender identity are central to his practice and integral to how he moves through the world, influencing his relationships and his sense of self in everyday life.  Nykyta is thrilled to begin his MFA at Carnegie Mellon and to connect with his fellow candidates and faculty.
