Logan Larsen is an artist with degrees in both Studio Art and Art History from The University of Texas at Austin. His work is interdisciplinary and project-based, encompassing printmaking, sculpture, publication, installation, and moving image. An artist and researcher, Larsen’s work seeks to explore methods of devotion, remembrance, and longing through the study of Queer histories and fan cultures. The work places emphasis on the ways narrativized histories impact contemporary understandings of queer culture and the people they reflect. Recent research interests have included actress Elizabeth Taylor, silent-film star Gloria Swanson, and filmmaker Kenneth Anger. Found 16mm and Super 8mm film stocks from 1950-70s have served as surfaces to respond to and enter with direct animation and masking on individual film cells. After undergrad Larsen worked at Landmarks, the public art program of The University of Texas at Austin, where he managed communications and facilitated artist projects including works by Simone Leigh, Sarah Oppenheimer, Eamon Ore-Giron, and Maya Lin.
