Aleena Akbar Khan

Aleena Akbar Khan is a visual artist from Pakistan. She graduated with a distinction from NCA Rawalpindi in 2022 and was awarded a year-long research grant by Vasl artist association the same year. She was also an artist in residence at the Misk art institute, Saudi Arabia (2023) as well as in Digital art studios, Belfast (2022). She was awarded the Prince Claus Seed Award in 2024.

She works across media, moving between sculptural installation, drawing, publication, sound and film. Her work is a research practice around information, truth,  translation and materiality. By reimagining and reconstructing elements from different contexts, she intends to articulate systems of information dissemination, such as, oral storytelling traditions, local material vocabularies  and neural networks. The work plays with different translations of shared universal experiences.
