Versari’s talk will explore copyright and image control in Futurist art and political propaganda.
Professor Maria Elena Versari will present at the upcoming international symposium on Futurism and Fascism, taking place in Nice, France on November 28-29, 2024. Her talk will focus on the intersection of copyright, image control, and the commercialization of political artifacts, specifically addressing how Futurist artists navigated official and commercial forms of political propaganda.
The symposium, organized by Serge Lorenzo Milan, Barbara Meazzi, and Jérémy Guedj, aims to explore the complex relationship between Futurist artists and the fascist regime, particularly in light of the centenary of F.T. Marinetti’s first Futurist Congress in 1924, coinciding with the assassination of Giacomo Matteotti. Versari joins a distinguished group of speakers, including scholars from universities across Europe and North America.
