DeYoung joins School of Music Professor Annie Hui-Hsin Hsieh for a live performance blending electronic sound and interactive shadow play on September 21 in Denver.

Professor Johannes DeYoung, in collaboration with School of Music Professor Annie Hui-Hsin Hsieh, will present a live improvisational performance at the 2024 Digerati Emergent Media Festival in Denver. As part of the Syncopated Images program, the performance will feature a fusion of electronic soundscapes and interactive computational shadow play. This one-of-a-kind event, curated by Sharifa Lafon, will take place at the Denver Armory on Saturday, September 21, with doors opening at 5:00 pm and performances beginning at 7:00 pm.

The Syncopated Images program, replacing the festival’s former Sonic program, showcases innovative works that merge moving images, sound, and animation, perfectly suited for large-scale projection in the immersive Digital Armory venue. DeYoung’s and Hsieh’s performance promises to be a highlight of the festival, pushing the boundaries of live media performance.
