We’ve got the event for you! \nCarnegie Mellon University’s School of Art is proud to present OPEN STUDIOS on December 6th from 6-9PM. Join us for the community-wide art party on the 3rd and 4th floors of the College of Fine Arts building! OPEN STUDIOS will feature undergraduate performance\, video\, animation\, sculpture\, 2D + multimedia artworks. In addition to the showcase\, we’ll have edible art\, music\, and more. There’s something for everyone so make sure you come over and bring a friend because this event is ONE NIGHT ONLY! \nStudents will also be selling work so bring your wallets to support our local artists! \nFree parking is available in the East Campus Garage after 5:00pm or on Frew\, Margaret Morrison\, and Tech Streets after 6:00pm.

DESCRIPTION:“the etymology of window” is a site-specific installation created for the Frame Gallery Window Fronts by MFA Candidate Huidi Xiang. Through recreating and reinterpreting the objects or shapes that are constantly viewing or being viewed in our daily life\, this work proposes an alternative perspective\, inviting viewers to look at\, rather than look through\, the “window” itself. \nThe work will be on view at the Window Fronts of the Frame Gallery 24/7 from December 10\, 2019 to January 12\, 2020. SUMMARY:Where Are We Going?
DESCRIPTION:“Where Are We Going?” is class exhibition of interactive stories\, video essays\, manifestos\, books\, and more from students in Digital Storytelling & Resistance. The event will feature students doing live demonstrations of their interactive projects and a screening program of animation\, video and performance works made throughout the course. \nDigital Storytelling & Resistance is an advanced course in the School of Art taught by Angela Washko with graduate assistant Lena Chen. During this course\, students explored the varied ways artists use contemporary technology to create complex alternative stories to one-dimensional mainstream media narratives. Throughout the semester students additionally researched the experimental distribution strategies of storytellers in the age of ubiquitous computing. \n*Dumplings Provided*\n**The first 30 visitors will get a copy of our book of manifestos!**
