SUMMARY:the etymology of window
DESCRIPTION:“the etymology of window” is a site-specific installation created for the Frame Gallery Window Fronts by MFA Candidate Huidi Xiang. Through recreating and reinterpreting the objects or shapes that are constantly viewing or being viewed in our daily life\, this work proposes an alternative perspective\, inviting viewers to look at\, rather than look through\, the “window” itself. \nThe work will be on view at the Window Fronts of the Frame Gallery 24/7 from December 10\, 2019 to January 12\, 2020. Come and visit anytime.

SUMMARY:In the Company of Men
DESCRIPTION:“In the Company of Men” explores tropes of masculinity as gender roles are subverted through experiences of love and conflict. Transversing personal and collective stories of trauma\, the exhibition depicts male subjects struggling to redefine their identities as contemporary notions of traditional masculinity are transforming. While conservative social movements respond to shifting gender relations as a threat\, some view these changes as an opportunity to create new narratives of manhood. Through the lens of our most intimate relationships\, “In the Company of Men” investigates how gender frames\, reinforces\, and challenges power dynamics. \nArtists: Lena Chen\, David Noel\, Matthew McGaughey \nOpening Reception: Friday\, January 31\, 7-9pm
